Is the Happen'n for women with no drumming experience?


All levels of drumming experience are welcome.  Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced workshops are offered.

2. Is the Happen'n for women only?


Yes, the Happen'n is for women-born women only.  Link to Policy here.

3. Can I bring my child?


The Happen'n is open to women & girls only.  There is no childcare or children's program available.  Girls who are students of the drum are welcome, and need to register as participants.

4. Can I come for 1 or 2 days only?


We have a Day Rate and Commuter Rate.  Women who register for all four days are given priority for on-site accommodations.  We expect to fill all our housing spaces.  Check with Drum Central on arrival for any availability of overnight accommodations, due to cancellations.

5. Are scholarships available?


The Happen'n Scholarship fund has a limited number of partial assistance grants for women on fixed low income, elder women on fixed low income, working women on low income, and young women with limited access to funds.  Our funds are not available to working women with cash flow, budget or debt difficulties.  For women who can work, we urge you to raise funds in your own community to help cover the costs of your attendance.  Scholarship application forms will be available in March.

6. Can I sign up for work exchange?


There are no work exchange positions at this time.  Partial assistance grants are available through the Happen'n scholarship fund.  See info above in FAQ# 5.

7. Can I sell my craft in the marketplace?


The Marketplace sells only drums, percussion instruments and drum related items.  Women interested in vending can send us via email or mail your promotional packets.  Products must be drum related in some way. 8. Is the Happen'n accessible to women who use wheelchairs or have difficulty walking?


The Circle Lodge is not wheelchair accessible.  It is country terrain, hilly, grassy and bumpy.  The classes take place in different on-site locations.  Please call or write Drum Central for more information.

No.  Only indoor accommodations are available.

You can register as an individual in a shared space.  You will be rooming with other women who have come by themselves.

No animals are allowed except for Working/ Seeing Eye dogs.

14. Can I videotape or audiotape the workshops?


Workshop teachers need to be asked if audio recording is permitted.  Videos of classes and special events are not permitted.

15. Can I get to the Happen'n by public transportation?


The Location is a private lakefront adult retreat center in Hopewell Junction, NY.  From Grand Central Station in NYC public transportation is the Metro-North Railroad to New Hamburg, NY.  Car Service and Taxi Service are available for the 20-25 minute ride from the train station to the Happen'n.  Contact Info and car service fees will be provided.  Specific details will be included in each Registration Confirmation Packet.
