OUR VISION STATEMENT:

Drum Central is dedicated to the advancement of women's participation in the ancient and sacred rite of drumming.  We support the expression of this tradition in innovative, diverse and unifying ways, to create a personal and community based art form.  The overall focus of Drum Central is to further the cultural evolution of a women's global drumming tradition in the United States, North America.
We offer a multicultural program of world drumming and percussive styles in a nurturing environment.  We have assembled some of the most dynamic women teachers and musicians in the drum world today.  The Catskill Mountain Women's World Drum & Percussion Happen'n is our initial visionary action.  Our expanded vision of Drum Central for the future is to continue this annual event, and to develop and support our local and international projects.

FOCUS OF OUR INTENT:

NO TOLERANCE POLICY:

Drum Central is committed to providing a safe space for all women in our drumming community.  We have a policy of No Tolerance of any disruptive behavior, be it racism, homophobia, heterophobia, political bias, classism, or any other discriminatory actions or statements that could be harmful to any woman in our community.  We further commit to dealing swiftly with any conflict that may arise during the Happen'n by providing a space for dialogue to address any issue that causes a disruption in our drum community.  We ask that all women attending the Happen'n participate with an open mind and heart.  May we treat each other with respect and kindness no matter what our differences might be and find ways to expand our understanding of how to live in community.
