Nana Akosua Baakan Agyiriwah is a percussionist, singer, dancer and performing artist. She has been performing all of her life and is the Founder and Managing Director of the Voices of Africa Choral Ensemble. Nana tours extensively with this group, to do workshops and performances at schools, colleges, and music festivals throughout the US and abroad.
Nana's workshops at the "Happen'ns" include :
MOVING to the RHYTHM of LIFE 1: An interactive, powerfully passionate encounter with traditional West African percussive rhythms. A demonstration of the sakara drum, a small hand held drum made in Nigeria, West Africa will be featured, along with the sangba drum and agogo. In addition, West African and African American cultural music and songs will be taught.
MOVING to the RHYTHM of LIFE 2: This workshop will focus primarily on the bells. We will use the bell to create an awesome and compelling vibrational energy. We will send this energy out into the universe charged with the cause of peace, justice and equality for all living things on the planet. We will vibrate on a higher frequency and develop an intuitive and integral communication with our inner sounds. The primary bell used in this workshop will be the AGOGO or double headed bell. Bring an agogo or any bell you have. For sensitive ears, please wear earplugs!
